Description

“Keep Rolling” is an independent filmmaking project organized by Ying E Chi (http://yingechi.org/about/), a non-profit organization in Hong Kong that supports the making of independent films. With the changing conditions of freedom of speech in Hong Kong, they have lost their biggest operational fund from the government.

Ying E Chi has recently completed the independent film project “Keep Rolling” with the support of Goethe-Institut. It consists of four short films – SAME BOAT, RUBBISH BAN, A LETTER FROM PRISON, and APRIL’S INTERLUDE. In addition, Hong Kong On Screen (HKOS) has just presented a special in-person screening on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at Laemmle Glendale. Thanks to all who came out to watch and celebrate the films and filmmaking talents with us!

The HKOS Podcast welcomed the directors of “Keep Rolling” to continue the conversation. In this episode, we discussed the parts of their lives they drew on to tell these stories, the meanings of the shorts, the message they wanted to tell, and other details in their creative process.
